Does Arsenal make a profit?

Arsenal are worth multiple billions of pounds. That huge value might make it seem like Arsenal are in huge profits, but that is not always the case.

Does Arsenal make a profit? Arsenal have made a profit in the past, but in recent years they have not been able to make a profit. Arsenal have made big losses in the last couple of years, a very similar result to other Premier League teams.

In the past, Arsenal have been able to make a profit over a season thanks to commercial revenue and TV deals that make the club a lot of money. However, at the moment they are not making a profit. For the 2021/22 season, Arsenal had a loss for the year after taxation of $45.5 million.

This was down from the previous year, with Arsenal having an after-tax loss of £107.3 million at the end of the 2020/21 season. This is not very surprising when you consider the conditions that Arsenal have faced over the last few years, they have been able to put a figure on the losses attributed to Covid.

£85 million of losses were attributed to Covid which is still having a longer-term impact on football teams in England. So at the moment, Arsenal are not making a profit, making a loss in the last couple of years due to the impact of Covid-19.

Are Arsenal in financial trouble?

Arsenal are one of the clubs to have been impacted negatively by the Covid-19 pandemic. Fans may have been concerned to see that the club reported substantial losses over the last couple of years. These may look concerning but it does not mean Arsenal are in financial trouble.

Arsenal are certainly not in financial trouble for a few different reasons. For one thing, almost every Premier League club has posted losses over the last few years due to the impact of Covid-19. It is not a problem that is exclusive to Arsenal and they have improved from last year.

The other major reason why Arsenal are not in financial trouble is because the team has one of the wealthiest owners in the world. Stan Kroenke is worth almost $13 billion which means he can put a large amount of money into the club to help make up for the losses they have seen through Covid-19.

Arsenal have been able to grow their wealth massively over the last few years and they are one of the richest clubs in England. They are certainly not in financial trouble, with the Premier League one of the richest leagues in the world, being able to support their clubs better than almost any other league in the world.

Is Arsenal financially stable?

Despite the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, Arsenal are financially stable. There are a few different reasons why Arsenal are financially stable despite posting losses over the last few years.

Arsenal are part of the Premier League who have one of the best broadcasting deals in the world. The Premier League being so popular means a lot of people watch and the broadcasting revenue is massive for Arsenal. This means that Arsenal are likely to continue to get a large revenue fund from the Premier League and they don’t look likely to be relegated anytime soon.

They have also not spent anywhere near as much as the rest of the big six. Arsenal have not spent hundreds of millions on transfers, able to produce a lot of talent through their academy which is a lot cheaper than buying players at their peak. This means they don’t have huge debts.

Arsenal also have an owner who is a multi-billionaire. Meaning he can put a huge amount of money into the club when they need it. This will help to make Arsenal sustainable as they do not necessarily need to make a profit to be sustainable as Kroenke has shown he is happy to invest into the club.

Why have Arsenal lost money?

In their two most recent financial reports, Arsenal have produced considerable losses. There are two main reasons for this. The first is that the long-term impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. This has had an impact on Premier League finances for a few years and it is one of the reasons why Arsenal have lost money.

The other one is that Arsenal are not currently playing in Europe. The revenue that comes from European matches is substantial, so Arsenal have a lot at least six additional matchdays which would have brought in a lot of money for the club. The European money tends to be a lot more substantial than the Premier League money.

Is the Arsenal owner a billionaire?

Arsenal’s owner is American businessman Stan Kroenke, who bought the majority of the shares of the team in 2018. He is certainly a billionaire thanks to smart commercial and sporting investments. His net worth is around $12.9 billion which would certainly make him a billionaire.

What country supports Arsenal the most?

The majority of Arsenal fans come from England, with the Gunners having a very large fan base thanks to their success in the 2000s. Arsenal gained a huge following from London and this is where they get a lot of support. But Arsenal also have some big support bases around the world.

Arsenal also have a big following in South East Asia. They did a lot of advertising in the region as Arsenal have quite a few fans in countries like Malaysia, Indonesia and India. Considering the large population of some of these countries they could actually be the country that supports Arsenal the most.

The support that Arsenal have in Asia is a big reason why they have organised pre-season tours around Asia, with this section of Arsenal fans growing rapidly.

Arsenal also have a lot of fans in Africa, with 10 different supporters clubs across the continent. Their North American support is another part that is growing rapidly, but the UK is still the home of Arsenal fans, particularly in North London.
