How many times has Chelsea beat Arsenal?

Chelsea and Arsenal are two of the most successful clubs in English history. The two often have exciting games against each other, in part because of their close proximity. So how many times has Chelsea gotten the better of their London rivals?

How many times has Chelsea beat Arsenal? Chelsea have beaten Arsenal 66 times in the team’s history. Arsenal have beaten Chelsea more times, however, beating their London rivals 81 times, with there also being 59 draws between the two teams. Since the first league meeting between the two teams on 9 November 1907 at Stamford Bridge, there have been 206 matches between the two London clubs.

At the time of writing, Chelsea have beaten their cross-town rivals 66 times. The last time that Chelsea beat Arsenal was in August 2021, with Arsenal winning the last two meetings between the two sides..

How many times has Chelsea beat Arsenal in the Premier League?

In the Premier League, Chelsea have beaten Arsenal 20 times. Arsenal are the more successful of the pair, beating Chelsea 24 times since the start of the Premier League. There have also been 17 draws between the two sides in the Premier League.

At the time of writing, both sides have scored the same amount of goals against each other.

What is Chelsea’s biggest victory over Arsenal?

Chelsea’s record victory over Arsenal actually came pretty recently. The game ended 6-0 to Chelsea on the 22nd of March 2014.

Arsenal hoped for a good result as it was Arsene Wenger’s 1000th game in charge of the club. But things could not have started much worse for the red side of London. Two clinical Chelsea counterattacks meant they were 2-0 down after just even minutes, thanks to goals from Samuel Eto’o and Andre Schurrle.

Things got even worse when Kieran Gibbs was sent off after Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain handballed it when the ball was heading just inside the post. It is one of the times when the referee sent off the wrong person and is one of the main uses of VAR. Chelsea were awarded a penalty because of this, which Eden Hazard slotted away to give Chelsea their third.

Oscar added a fourth before halftime, scoring his second in the 66th minute. Mohammed Salah scored his only goal for Chelsea to add the sixth in a pretty terrible day for Arsenal. It was the joint biggest loss of Arsene Wenger’s career.

What is Arsenal’s biggest victory over Chelsea?

Arsenal’s biggest victory against Chelsea came a lot further back than Chelsea’s win over Arsenal. In 1930, Arsenal beat Chelsea 5-1 in a First Division game at Stamford Bridge. It was not a massively surprising result when you consider the form of the two teams back in 1930-31.

Arsenal finished the season top of the league, seven points ahead of second-placed Aston Villa. They had some huge wins that season, winning by 5 or more goals four times. They managed to score 127 goals in just 42 games and were dominant winners in almost every other game.

Chelsea could only manage 12th in the season and so it was hardly surprising that they were heavily beaten by Arsenal. Chelsea did much better in the first game between the two teams, with Arsenal only winning the game 2-1.

What is Arsenal’s biggest win over Chelsea in the Premier League?

Arsenal’s biggest-ever victory over Chelsea came when the top division was known as the First Division. Arsenal have beaten Chelsea 3-0 twice in the Premier League. The first came in 1997. This was Arsene Wenger’s first season with Arsenal.

Both teams were still challenging for the top four and it turned out to be quite a big victory for Arsenal. Ian Wright gave his side the lead before David Platt added the second. Chelsea pushed to get into the game but Dennis Bergkamp added the third for a big victory for Arsenal.

The second result is slightly more surprising. The 2016-17 season was a dominant one for Chelsea. They finished the season top of the league, with Arsenal finishing down in fifth. But it was the red side of London that got the best of Chelsea when the two teams met at the Emirates.

Gary Cahill was crucial in Arsenal’s first goal. His mistake put in Alexis Sanchez and the Chilean lifted his finish above the Chelsea keeper. Theo Walcott added the second and Mesut Ozil finished off a brilliant counterattack to add the third. It was a surprising result when you look at the end of the season.

It was one of just five defeats for Chelsea in 2016-17 and they ended up finishing 18 points ahead of Arsenal.

Who is Chelsea’s best striker ever?

Chelsea have had a lot of very talented strikers, but I believe that Didier Drogba is the team’s best striker of all time. Chelsea would not have had the trophy-laden last 25 years if it was not for the signing of Ivorian Didier Drogba from Marseille in 2004.

At the time he was the most expensive Ivorian player in the history of football and was excellent in his very first season. Drogba scored 10 goals in 26 league games to help Chelsea to the title in 2005.

One of the best seasons in Chelsea’s recent history was 2009/10 and it was almost completely down to Didier Drogba. He scored 37 goals in 44 games in all competitions. It was a brilliant season and Drogba was crucial in Chelsea winning both the FA cup and the Premier League.

After the 2009/10 season, Drogba began to age out of the team but he came through with crucial goals. He scored the winner in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final and Chelsea got through after a 2-2 draw in the second leg. His performance in the final was even more impressive.

Chelsea were down a goal with five minutes to go in the final, but Drogba scored the equaliser before going on to score the winning penalty. This was his second winning goal in a final just that season, as Drogba also scored the winner in the 2012 FA Cup final.

While his goal-scoring record could have been better, Drogba is one of the most clutch players in history and was crucial in many of Chelsea’s trophies.
