How much did Wrexham pay for Mullin?

Wrexham did not pay a fee for Paul Mullin. This was because Mullin was acquired by Wrexham on a free transfer from Cambridge United. Mullin had been offered a contract extension from Cambridge United however, Mullin turned this offer down and moved to Wrexham. Cambridge United’s manager Mark Bonner stated that:

“He’s got an outstanding contract there which is brilliant for him and his family, so good luck to him.

Mark Bonner, Cambridge Guardian

It’s clear from Bonners quote that what League 2 Cambridge were able to offer Mullin for his new contract following his 34 goal season for them was way short of the money he is now receiving at Wrexham.

Although the contract Cambridge offered was probably a lot more than the estimated £2,000 a week 1 year contract he signed with Cambridge in July 2020, after he proved his value in front of goal.

Prior to Mullin’s season at Cambridge, he had never been prolific in front of goal. Always talented and hard-working, he had never really set the nets ablaze.
