How much is Arsenal worth to buy?

Arsenal being one of the biggest and most historic clubs in England makes them incredibly valuable. We have seen Premier League clubs sell for billions in the past, so how much is Arsenal worth to buy?

How much is Arsenal worth to buy? Recent valuations have put Arsenal’s value around $2 billion. However, to actually buy the club, it will likely take an offer of over $3.5 million based on previous bids and the recent sale of fellow Premier League Big Six Club, Chelsea.

The actual value of Arsenal FC is very difficult to calculate. This is because it includes the playing squad, staff, stadium, training facilities, commercial retail and a lot more. Calculating the exact value of all of this is very difficult, but something that a few different places have had a go at doing.

Forbes is one of the companies that usually gives accurate valuations of sports teams. Their most recent valuation had the team value of Arsenal at $2.05B, or £1.6B. This is down to a number of factors which have been broken down. 51% of that value comes from their broadcasting deals with various channels worldwide.

Their commercial side makes up just over 31% and brand makes up 16% of the value, with the rest being match-day revenue through ticket sales. This current valuation makes them the 11th most valuable football team worldwide.

In terms of the accuracy of this, it is likely that Arsenal are worth more to buy than the Forbes valuation. This is because Premier League revenues are increasing rapidly, with the League being one of the few around the world to bounce back financially from the Covid-19 pandemic into an even stronger position.

The actual value of the club to buy would be higher than this $2.05B figure because this does not include the likely future revenues. It is why we have seen bids coming in for much more than this figure for Arsenal in the past.

How much would it cost to buy Arsenal FC?

It would likely cost over $3.5 billion to buy Arsenal at the moment, although the exact figure is not an easy one to calculate. The club itself is worth just over $2B so there is no way owner Stan Kroenke would take anything less than that for the club. But that does not take into account the future revenues from the Premier League.

What we have seen in the past is a bid of $3.1 billion being rejected by Kroenke. It is likely that the American owner understands that Arsenal’s value will continue to increase because Premier League revenues are increasing.

The bit that makes it difficult to calculate is how much Stan Kroenke is committed to the club and how long he wants to own the club for. He has already rejected a bid of over $3 billion and considering the amount of time he has put into the club, Kroenke would probably want a very large bid to sell the club.

So with the already rejected bid, we could be looking at a value of around $4 billion which may be enough to buy Arsenal. But as we have not seen bids be put in of this nature then we don’t really know the exact figure it would take to buy Arsenal FC.

How much is Arsenal’s owners worth?

Arsenal are currently owned by American businessman Stan Kroenke, who purchased the controlling share in the club in 2018 having been a part owner since 2007. He is able to do that thanks to his incredibly high net worth.

Stan Kroenke’s estimated net worth is $12.9 billion, making him one of the richest sports owners in the Premier League. Kroenke has seen his wealth skyrocket in the past thanks to commercial investment as well as other investments into sports and entertainment. This figure makes him the fourth richest owner in the Premier League when considering their estimated combined net worth.

How much do Arsenal make per game?

Arsenal make a huge amount of money through gameday revenues. In terms of matchday income per game, it is estimated that Arsenal make around £3.1 million per game, which is the most recent figure available. The majority of this is made up of ticket sales but it also includes food and drinks at the stadiums.

Now, this is not exactly the money that Arsenal get for every game they play. This does not include the broadcasting revenue that Arsenal gets for every game. The broadcasting revenue was much higher than the match day revenue as the broadcast can be seen by millions of people.

The exact value that Arsenal get per game is much higher than just the matchday income, with matchday income only making a very small amount of the total revenue and value of the club.

Based on recent figures, it is likely that Arsenal’s revenue per game is around £9 million per game as this is the estimated figure of the revenue in 2021/22 divided by the number of games in the 2021/22 season for Arsenal. This includes broadcasting revenue as well as commercial retail and match-day income.

Arsenal squad value

At the time of writing, the total market value of the squad is £712 million, which is the total figure of all of the players currently in the squad. Arsenal have seen their squad value increase massively over the last 12 months, thanks to smart transfers as well as young players starting to perform at a high level.

Bukayo Saka is by far the most valuable Arsenal player, with Transfermarkt valuing him at £89 million which is the highest in the squad. Gabriel Jesus is second with a value of £67 million, with Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli tied for third, both being valued at £53 million.

This valuation is likely slightly below the real value, as Transfermarkt are known for not always having completely accurate market values. It would likely take a bid of much higher than the valuation to buy any of those players, particularly if the bid is coming from another Premier League team.
